Account settings are the source of truth for your personal account information in The Marketplace Company. You can manage them from Settings > Account.
The exact fields available can vary by marketplace, but account settings can include the information below.
Your legal name is the name you use on a government-issued ID. It helps The Marketplace Company support trust, eligibility, verification, and marketplace safety.
Your preferred name is the name you use to identify yourself in the marketplace. This is the name that can appear on your profile and in communications with other people.
Your email address is used for sign-in, account communication, and important marketplace updates. If your marketplace does not let you edit your email directly, contact support before creating a duplicate account.
Your phone number can be used for notifications, account verification, and marketplace operations. It is not displayed to other users unless a marketplace surface explicitly asks you to share it.
Your address can support verification, eligibility, billing, commerce, or regional marketplace requirements. It is not displayed publicly by default.
When collected, gender can support verification, eligibility, personalization, or marketplace-specific recommendations. It is not displayed to other users by default.
Your date of birth can support verification, eligibility, trust, and marketplace-specific personalization. It is not displayed to other users by default.
Some marketplaces ask you to complete verifications before using certain features. Verifications help keep the marketplace safe and make sure sensitive actions are connected to the right person.
If a page or action is not available, your account may still need a required verification, feature, or role.
Account settings are not the same as your public profile. Only information intended for public display appears on your profile. Private account details stay in settings unless you choose to share them through a specific marketplace surface.
