Biathlon is a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. Athletes ski over a designated distance, stopping at shooting ranges to accurately hit targets. There are two shooting styles: prone (lying down) and standing. Missed shots result in penalty loops or added time to the athlete's skiing.
